Foster’s book is comprehensive, concise and eminently practical with graduated exercises and studies included. Foster knew and worked with everyone: Caruso, Melba, Rachmaninov. He had attended the Guildhall School of Music in London and served on the faculty of New South Wales Conservatory of Music. Although written in 1934 his pedagogy will resonate with serious singers.
